About the Sheffield Fund

The Sheffield Fund (the Fund), sponsored by the trade association, Sheffield Association of Federated Employers (SAFE), is designed to help employers take control of workers' comp through shared risk and professional oversight.

The Sheffield Fund is a self-insured workers' compensation fund created to serve Alabama employers. As a benefite of SAFE membership, you have exclusive access to the Fund who offers a smarter, more stable alternative to traditional insurance—built for greater control, stronger protection, and long-term member value.

The Fund manages the flow of resources on behalf of its members. It collects contributions, maintains the pooled reserve, and distributes claims as needed. OVersight and accountability are ensured through a fiduciary board of trustees, providing both guidance and protection for the Fund's operations.

While the Fund is board-governed, it is supported operationally by third pary administrative service agreements with The Sheffield Group and Sheffield Risk management—experts in claims, underwriting and safety.
